Allied Stars Confederations
The Allied Star Confederation was formed in response to the collapse of the Core Worlds during the Tnarxian Invasions (194-299 CE).
The Confederation initially united the states of the Inner Sphere (approximately 50 light-years around Sol) as a military alliance for defense against aggression from other stellar states (primarily the Shosha Collective and the Draedar Suns Union) (293 CE). It then became a permanent alliance (289 CE) and finally a federal state (301 CE) when the Free Concordat, the largest Tnarxian nomadic state, signed its accession to the Confederation.
The capital of the Confederation was located on Tau Ceti, on the planet Parvati, where the supreme commands of the army and fleet were also located.
It was a federal state, and member states were granted a great deal of autonomy as long as they respected two clauses:
Not to enter into alliances with members outside the Confederation.
To have a system of government that promoted diversity and respect for citizens' rights (allowing for strange alchemies like the Hegemony of Ruhuus, which was a rule-of-law state governed by a Supreme Lord who ruled by decree).
The government was elected by all citizens through elections, the rules of which varied from member state to member state. The government, through the person of the Confederate Chancellor, was responsible to the chambers.
A lower house elected by universal suffrage among the citizens of the Confederation
An Executive Council made up of one hundred members chosen by local governments (some elected, others appointed)
The Founding Members of the Allied Star Confederation:
In the beginning, the Confederation had ten members:
Terra-Luna Federation
Drozular High Council
Tau Ceti Republic
Hegemony of Ruhuss
Jamiaar Imperium
Cirrulan Authority
Denebolan Consortium
Kingdom of Regulus
Free Concordat
Aldebaran Free State
Megacorporations and Large Industries:
While numerous megacorporations and large industries operated within the Confederation, they were never officially granted member state status and were not recognized as autonomous entities. This distinction was important to maintain the Confederation's character as a union of sovereign states rather than a collection of corporate interests.
